Information and Rules

Event Description

  • ● Before the event day, 4 to 5 product will be specified to the students which will be listed on Techno planet website under PRODUCT DESIGN event tab.
    ● On the day of event out of that one product will be given to the team. Product will be same for every product design team.
    ● Here, the product will be given with some design constraints on the spot and product design teams have to propose their designs accordingly.
    For example- Product: Modification of a Tiffin box,
    Design Constrained: may be like length and width, at least two brackets for vegetables and a spoon will be attached with it. And there should be a provision to put pickles in it separately.
    ● Every design team has to prepare minimum 2 and maximum 3 concepts of a given product. To generate concepts A4 size sheets will be given to them. Concepts must be in hard copy and prepared by means of hand only.
    ● After development of the concept they have to select any one concept for further development process. However designer team has to give justification for their selection.
    ● Designer team has to prepare CAD model for selected concept. Designer team is free to choose any CAD software package. Teachnoplanet team will provide AutoCAD, ProE, only. Available versions of software will be listed soon on Teachnoplanet website.
    ● At the time of submission of proposed design, every designer team has to submit part drawing, assembly drawing in 3D and 2D.
    ● Every design team will be evaluated based on following parameters:
    ● Innovation in Concept Generation; where number of concepts, depth, clarity, accommodation of constraints are key points to be considered.
    ● Feasibility and selection of the concept; where material, cost, aesthetic and ergonomics are key points to be considered.
    ● Some other criteria like modeling, presentation and team work will also be key points for evaluation.

Event Rules

  1. No internet or other resources will be allowed to use during competition. Alternately, students can come with their choice of modeler installed in their laptops.
